The Reason for the Season

This Christmas season we want to encourage you to keep your focus on the true reason for the season, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Gather with friends and family and read through the story of Christ’s birth in Matthew and Luke. As you read, pray, and meditate on what Christ’s life means for your own life and the lives of those you love most.

Isaiah 9:6 says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Which of these names connects with you the most?

Our prayer for you in this Christmas season is that you’ll get to know your Savior as each of these titles, intimately. He is our Wonderful Counselor because He gives us guidance, help and deliverance through wisdom and miracles. He is our Mighty God because He has power over all else. There is no one and nothing mightier than our God! He is our Everlasting Father because in Him there is no beginning or end, nor is there in His love for you! He is our Prince of Peace because in Him we can find a peace that passes all understanding and all circumstance.

He has been all these things for us and to us from before we were formed in our mother’s womb. To access all of them we must know and understand these titles, and we must have faith that they are true. Faith that He is who He says He is!

That sure is praiseworthy news! Our praise and worship times bring heaven to earth. And what better time to do this than the Christmas season when we are celebrating Emanuel, God with us! The birth of Jesus was heaven coming to Earth in a way that had never happened before or since. This access to heaven isn’t just found on one day or in one place.

Because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus we have unlimited access to the throne of grace and can come boldly to it at anytime and anywhere! It's important to remember this access as you navigate Christmas with your friends and family! Scripture tells us that we are in this world but not of it. This means we can get through the holiday season with our eyes on Jesus!

As you look around and see your wants and needs as well as the wants and needs of those around you, we encourage you to keep Matthew 6:33 in mind which says “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” When we shift our focus to Jesus and seek to be more like Him in all we do, all the things we need, all the desires of our heart, will be added to us! When we make Kingdom living our business, we allow Father God to make our future His business!

Our prayer for you is that in midst of what can be the busiest season, you slow down and realign your focus on the reason for it all. We pray for divine encounters with the love of God! We pray that you’ll be so overwhelmed by the peace and love of Christ that it pours out of your cup to all those around you! We love you so much and are wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
