Prepare for Warfare

You’ve probably read Ephesians 6:12, which says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This means we aren’t at war with people. We are at war with a very real enemy. So why then are we so affected by people? Why are we so often tempted to put up a fight against the people closest to us? This is a distraction tactic of the enemy. This is a part of warfare. If you are busy battling those around you, you’ll be too tired to fight the enemy.

We want to help you prepare for the warfare that is all around. Let’s start by defining warfare. We would define warfare as anything around you that is contrary to God’s will for your life. It’s important to remember that all warfare comes from the enemy.

There are so many things that fall under this category of warfare. It can be daunting to think about if you are taking on the fight alone. This is because you weren’t meant to battle warfare in your own strength. God has a better plan for you! So how do you defend yourself against the warfare of the enemy, God’s way?

Let’s look back a couple verses from where we began in Ephesians. Ephesians 6:10-11 says “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Wow! The power of His might! That is some serious wonder-working power! That’s resurrection power! That’s power to overcome! That’s power that raises the dead! That very same power is living inside of me and you!

1 Timothy 6:12 reminds us that part of our fight is the fight of faith. Meaning we must fight against the schemes of the enemy that try to keep us in unbelief. In order to believe in God, you must know God. That’s how you build faith! You will find all you need to know of His character and integrity right in the Word!

As you study the Word of God you are also building up ammunition to use in spiritual warfare. You fight by praying and declaring the Word over yourself and your situation! Jeremiah 1:12 AMP says, “Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.”” He’s not watching for His words out of His own mouth. He is watching you! He is waiting to hear you pray and declare His word so that He can fulfill it!

On the flip side of this, the enemy is also watching for you to speak doubt and unbelief out of your mouth. When you do, it gives Him space to create warfare for you and for those around you. This is why it is so important to guard your mouth. If you want scriptural backing for this look at Psalm 141:3-4 which tells us “Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong.”

Our prayer for you is that you will hunger and thirst for the Living Word of God. That you will be drawn into the Lord as you learn more about who He is and how He feels about you. We pray that this knowledge will sink deep inside your heart and transform your life! We are believing for your mind to be renewed as your faith grows. We are praying for you to be reminded to stay in the power of the Lord as you fight back against the warfare around you! We know all things are possible through God. We pray you come to know this truth as well! Remember in James 4:8 we read “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” We know that time spent in the Word and in prayer is how we all draw near to Him!
