What We Believe
Statement of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son and our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, walked a sinless life, suffered, and was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He arose from the dead; He ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us until His appearing. I believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
The Trinity
It is the testimony of both the Old and New Testaments and of the Christian Church that God is both One and Triune. The biblical revelation testifies that there is only one God and that He is eternally existent in three persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, John 17, Genesis 1:26, Luke 1:35, Isaiah 9:6, Hebrews 3:7-11)
God the Father
God the Father is the creator and sustainer of all things, and He created the universe in love. He created man in His own image for fellowship and called man back to Himself through Christ. (John 3:16)
Jesus Christ - The Son
We believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is God come in the flesh and that He is both divine and human. We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, He was 100% God and 100% man. He was the only man ever to live a sinless life. He was together with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through Him all things were made new. (Luke 1:26-28, John 14:1-3, 1 Timothy 3:16, Acts 2:36, Hebrews 1:3-15)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God, the Lord, and the giver of life, who was active in the Old Testament and given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers the saints for service and witness, cleanses man from the old nature, and conforms us to the image of Christ. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, subsequent to conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evidenced by the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance. (Matthew 3:11, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, 2:4, 2:38-39, 19:1-7)
The Blood Atonement of Jesus Christ for Mankind
We believe that man, in his natural state, is a sinner, lost, undone, without hope, and without God. (Romans 3:19-23, Ephesians 2:1, 2, 12) We believe in the saving power of the Blood of Jesus Christ and His imputed righteousness to all who believe on Him with faith. The Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is 100% sufficient to forgive man of all of his sins. Jesus allowed Himself to be punished for the sins we had committed, enabling all mankind to be free from the penalty of which is death. Jesus paid for all of our sins past, present and future. (Acts 4:12, Romans 3:10-12, 23, Ephesians 1:3-15, Hebrews 7:25-28 Colossians 1:20, John 1:29)
The Word
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product for holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were led by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, is what we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. We also believe that it is the ultimate, final, and eternal authority. It cannot be added to, subtracted from, or superseded in any regard. It contains all that is needed for guidance in godliness and practical Christian conduct. (Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, II Peter 1:21)
Salvation
The Word of God declares clearly that salvation is a free gift of God, based on the merits of the death of His Son, Jesus, and is appropriated by faith. Salvation is effected by personal repentance, belief in the Lord Jesus, and personal acceptance of Him into one’s life as Lord and Savior. The new life in Christ includes the privileges of adoption and inheritance in the kingdom of God’s beloved Son. Salvation is an act of free will in response to God’s personal love for mankind. Salvation should produce an active lifestyle of loving obedience and service to Jesus Christ our Savior. (John 3:3-5, 2 Corinthians 7:10, 1 John 5:12)
Water Baptism
Baptism in water by immersion is a direct commandment of our Lord and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol for the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:36-39, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12)
The Lord’s Supper
A unique time of communion in the presence of God when the elements of bread and juice, representing the Body and the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, are taken in remembrance of His sacrifice on the cross. (Matthew 26:26-28, Luke 22:13-20, I Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-25)
Tithe & Offering
We believe that the method ordained of God for the support and spread of His cause is by the giving of tithes and freewill offerings. (Mal. 3:10; 2 Cor. 9:7; Heb. 7:8)
Divine Healing
We believe in divine healing and that it was provided for us in the Atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and by the laying on of hands. It is a privilege of every member of the Church today. However, we encourage and do not condemn medical science. (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17, Mark 16:18, James 5:14-16)
Christian Life
We believe that each believer is a priest of the Lord Jesus Christ and has direct access to the Father through the Lord Jesus. Each person must believe for themselves, be baptized, obey, and answer to their Creator. We believe that the Scriptures portray the life of the saint in this world to be one of balance between what is imputed to us as Christians and what is imparted to us according to our faith and maturity. Hence, God’s provision for His children is total, and the promises are final and forever. The shortcomings of the individual and of the Church are because of the still progressing sanctification of the saints. The Christian life requires dependence upon the Holy Spirit. (Revelation 1:6, I Peter 2:9)
The Great Return & Eternal Life
We believe in the visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth to gather His Church and judge the world. Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the scriptures. (Revelation 1:7, Matthew 24:30, 26, 63, 64. I Thessalonians 4:15-18, II Thessalonians 1:7, 8)
We believe that there is an eternal life and that this world is not our home. As a believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ we receive His life in us and we will forever live together with him for eternity.
Marriage & Family
We believe that God established marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman for life. Marriage reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church and provides the foundation for family and society. Sexual intimacy is reserved exclusively for the marriage union of a man and a woman. All forms of sexual activity outside of this covenant, including same-sex relationships, are contrary to God’s design and will. (Genesis 2:18-25, Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:22-33, Hebrews 13:4)
Gender
We believe that God creates every person intentionally and assigns their gender at conception, male or female, as part of His divine design. Human identity is not self-determined but God-ordained, and believers are called to honor and live in agreement with their God-given sex. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-16, Mark 10:6)
